CQC Inspection Reports

Response to the CQC report

Written by Rod Thomas - Chairman of the Board Of Trustees

Speaking on behalf of the management team, we take real pride in Gold Hill Homecare and its standards of care are our highest priority. The staff are caring and professional and our clients and their relatives are happy with the service we provide.

In 2019, when the CQC, or Care Quality Commission, audited our service and made us aware of discrepancies in our care provision, we were naturally very concerned.

Whilst the CQC audit team did make many positive comments relating to our care provision and the overall care of clients, they found weaknesses which we had to address.

The main things the CQC picked up

● Gaps in information and records leading to dips in care and missed opportunities to provide better care.

● In specific areas, inefficient processes lead to a dip in care

As the management team leader, I can only say that our staff have been exemplary in how they have handled the feedback and we have seen their eagerness to improve and actively participate in their part of the improvements.

Since I carry the ultimate responsibility for the overall running of Gold Hill Care, both myself and the Registered Manager have, together with the help of an external consultant, taken drastic steps to facilitate the required improvements.

And we have made significant progress.

2021 - Progress Updates

We have made significant progress since our audit in 2019. Please see the below:

● We have identified any weak processes and addressed those immediately. Both staff and management have better oversight of issues and can respond quickly.

● Staff have been given additional support and coaching with regards to fulfilling their role.

● And we looked at satisfaction ratings and undertook to survey clients and their relatives to provide valuable feedback on their experience using our services.

It has been over 2 years since the CQC audit, and this has given us the time to invest in the care service we are passionate about. We hope the next audit reflects the improvements we have made.

Since the emergence of Covid-19, we have not had the opportunity to be audited again. However, through self- assessment, we are monitoring our care services against a number of key lines of inquiry as indicated by the CQC.

We will keep you updated, via this website, as to when we have the results of our next audit. I can assure you that, we will keep investing and improving, until we achieve that all-important ‘Good’.
